This season’s New York Fashion Week may have been held in the midst of record cold weather in the Big Apple, but that didn’t stop the top names in the world of fashion from showing up alongside the catwalks. This year’s event saw new trends established, old favourites make a return and plenty for fans of fashion to talk about!

Here at i-Salon, we’re mostly interested in the hairstyles that dominated the runways in NYC. Take a look at some of the hair trends that are set to take over this autumn:
The low ponytail is back again, with natural, slightly tousled styles prominent in many shows. At the Carolina Herrera show, Orlando Pita’s hair team opted for a sleek low ponytail, wrapped with ribbon. This is one style that should make the leap to the mainstream with ease.
Victoria Beckham’s show featured a half ponytail _ another hairstyle that’s a breeze for anyone to recreate.
Slicked-back hair also had a strong showing, making the transition from last season’s shows _ see Vivienne Hu, Suno and more.
Plaits of all styles and sizes featured in many different shows _ check out the Mara Hoffman, Peter Som and DKNY shows for inspiration.
Super-straight sleek blowouts were also prevalent. Tommy Hilfiger, Thakoon and Prabal Gurung all used this style in the NYFW shows.

Salon managers and stylists should prepare for these trends to emerge in the coming months. If you’d like to improve your approach to salon management this year with a brand new appointment booking system, take a look at what i-Salon software can do for you.
