The importance of using Anti-Virus on your salon computer

With the increased use of the Internet, there has been a proliferation of Malware and viruses, designed to cause havoc or steal data.

There have been several Ransonware attacks recently (example: NHS attack last year), where whole computer systems have been infected, and businesses compromised. The attackers then demand huge amounts of money to ‘release’ your data. However, there is no guarantee that once you’ve paid their ransom, that they will remove their virus off your system.

It is vital for all businesses that are connected to the Internet, whether you use email or online-shopping, to have an up-to-date anti-virus program running on every pc on your network.

The purpose of the anti-virus program is to scan all incoming traffic to your system for signs of viruses, and remove said viruses before they infect your files. Some anti-virus programs also scan your outbound traffic, to ensure that you are not passing on infected files to other systems.

There are many anti-virus programmes on the market – some free, some paid for. If you purchase an anti-virus product, then you can generally ask the provider for assistance in the event that a virus does get onto your system. Free anti-virus programs may not offer this service.

iSalon only recommends ESET NOD32 Anti-virus, as we have found that this works well with our products. Other anti-virus products may require exclusions to be configured to allow programs (including iSalon) to function correctly. The salon would be responsible for this.

If you need any anti-virus advice please do not hesitate to contact iSalon, you can also purchase our recommended anti-virus protection here.
