The Grooming Room – “The non- traditional barber shop as we like to say”

Traditional barber shops have been around for many years, and believe it or not traditional barbers used to trade as barber surgeons, who also performed surgery and dentistry.

However now, barbers trade as  (predominately) the male stylist for the hair, beards and wet shaves. The very first female barber started in 1924 and set the way forward for females to become involved within the industry.

The Grooming Room was established in July 2015 and has been award winning since 2017 in East Midlands and across the United Kingdom.

Here at TGR we have a team of four ladies barbers doing it for the females out there! We all started off as female stylists and after learning about mens hair, we all grew a real passion for mens barbering. We then crossed paths as we all learnt barbering in many different ways and became a fantastic team. Each of us in TGR took on a different method of training such as apprenticeships, college courses and industry training with the likes of Sid Sottung, Jospeh Lanzante and Erik Lander.

We are all trained in all assets of barbering from gents modern and traditional hair cuts, beard shaping, wet shaving & facial waxing. We have realised that barbering as a career can take you many places, and myself along with my colleague Alice and another team member also work within the World Cruise Industry, providing Wet Shaves and Mens hairdressing.  We also work closely with local colleges providing them with educational courses and in salon training,.

We feel that the male grooming industry is definitely evolving and us as team are helping that happen along side iSalon. Recently we have added ‘Brotox’ also known as botox to our line of services, and this is provided by our Registered Nurse and Independent Prescriber, who holds evening clinics to provide consultations and then services for any men who want to know more in this service and book in for a treatment.

iSalon have been a huge help in our new business venture, helping us build and create our online booking and booking app. Men love technology and at just a few clicks of a button from the sofa on a Sunday afternoon and the appointment is secured.
