KEEP CALM AND RUN A MARATHON (or two)

Two members of the iSalon team are about to run two marathons in two months to show support and raise some money for the amazing CALM charity. Our Managing Director, Darren and Head of Sales, Mike will both be running the marathons in order to raise money for CALM.

Darren is really keen runner however he has had to work extra hard after injuring his achillies earlier this year. He has been trying really hard to build his strength back up and make sure he’s ready. With the help of his gorgeous dogs, Ollie and Poppy too. Whilst they can’t come along to the marathon or take part – they’ll be cheering Darren on in spirit!

Mike is also a pro at running marathons with lots under his belt. He has been busy getting the practice in along the banks of the River Trent. Both Mike and Darren are looking forward to lots of celebratory pints following their run, to aid recovery of course!

The first marathon will take place this Sunday 12th September in Brighton with Mike and Darren hoping to take a dip at the famous Brighton Pier once they cross that finish line. Next up Darren and Mike will take on Manchester in October to hopefully raise even more awareness and money for the amazing charity.

Unfortunately the Chicago marathon that the team had their sights set on is no longer able to go ahead for us due to travel restrictions and Covid. Therefore, we need to make sure the other two are more than worthwhile for our amazing charity.

CALM was the Jonas charity of the year for 2020 however following the pandemic we didn’t feel they received the full support we would have wanted to show them so we decided to carry over into this year. The work that CALM do has been more important than ever over the last eighteen months as more of us have struggled with our mental health more than ever before. We wanted to share a little bit about what they do and why we are so passionate to support them. Their introduction on their website is “that means standing against feeling shit, standing up to stereotypes, and standing together to show life is always worth living.” A message we fully stand behind and believe is so important for all of us.

Following tough times like we have all endured over the last eighteen months, it is so important that we all do anything we possibly can to help support others who may be struggling. That’s not to say tough times are the only time we need to show support but just now especially it could make a huge difference.

If you’re able to donate and help support the wonderful charity, you can visit our Just Giving page here –  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/iSaloncharity2020

Of course we wish we could bring you all along with us but we will be sure to share lots of pictures – watch this space!
