ARE YOU READY FOR WEDDING SEASON?

Having just arrived in Spring, and as we move forward towards the Summer months, wedding season is upon us.

For many salons and spas, wedding season is almost as chaotic as the festive period, with many weekends being fully booked with bridal parties, guest appointments and of course trials. However during this time, it is essential that you plan ahead, and know how to manage such a busy period, whilst ensuring your profitability is at the forefront of your mind at all times.

Here we chat to iSalon client Philip Bell of Ishoka Hair and Beauty, as he talks us through the Ishoka bridal timeline.

‘Here at Ishoka, we have a bridal plan in place to ensure the smooth running of any bridal bookings and to make sure this does not intervene with any other salon appointments. Here is an example of our plan;’

Three months to go

Choosing the style of hair for a wedding takes a lot of thought and experimenting for every bride, it’s never just a one off thing. With three months to go, this is a great time to begin trialling different style, we book the bride in for an initial consultation and appointment, letting them share with us their desired look (looks). When in the salon we urge them to bring along images of styles they like as well as examples of the dress, jewellery and makeup which they will be wearing on the day. It is key to get the right balance between these to avoid too much going on above the neckline. If they are planning on wearing a head piece or extensions it is essential for them to bring this in so the piece can be colour matched to the colour they have on the day. Also at this stage we book in the future appointments for the bride for her colour service/refresh.

One month to go

Brides want their hair to look it’s best on their big day so remember we need to keep it looking and feeling as healthy as possible. Book appointments for the bride with their chosen stylist (every six weeks) for regular trims as well as conditioning treatments to keep hair looking and feeling fresh. At this stage, try the chosen style with the bride again so they know exactly how they will look on their wedding day.

Two weeks to go

At this point it’s all about maintaining the healthiest condition of the hair. We recommend another conditioning treatment so the hair feels and looks as healthy as possible.

One week to go

If hair has been coloured this is the best time to touch up any regrowth so that clients do not have any roots for their big day and so the colour is at it’s best.

One day to go

I would suggest a shine treatment to the client the day before the wedding to give hair a glossy luxurious feel!

Your wedding day

Make sure the day has been planned down to the second, to ensure everything goes to plan and that the bride is not stressed out in any way, shape or form. Have everything you could possibly need to transform the bridal party (we carry 2 of everything just incase) and always have a back up plan in case of last minute adjustments.
