Summertime in your salon

Summer in the salon can be a little quieter in the UK. Whether this is due to staff using their annual leave during this period or clients jetting off to enjoy some time in the sunshine. It’s often the quietest time of year for hair and beauty salons, we are not sure how it will be this year but before we find out there are a few things you can do to combat quieter times.

As with everything now, this summer won’t be like what we are used to due to the ongoing pandemic and restrictions. However, staycations are on the rise and even if overseas travel doesn’t boom, holidays may still disrupt your salon.

Your software is on hand to help you through. In terms of ensuring your diary is still busy during summer, we recommend doing a little extra marketing. You can generate a SMS Message to clients who haven’t visited your salon in the last six months and offer an incentive for their next appointment. Or perhaps send out a newsletter to your database and let them know of any summer retail specials and treatments available to combat the damage from the sunshine and chlorine if they’re lucky enough to be heading abroad.

Don’t forget your social media is your shop window. During summer clients want to see sun-kissed highlights and the best products to protect their hair from UV damage. Make sure you’re taking the opportunity to show them just what your salon has to offer. If you’re doing any special offers, have later opening hours or maybe a new team member, make sure you’re shouting about it on your social media.

When it comes to managing your team during summertime it’s crucial to make sure you get the balance right with annual leave to ensure adequate cover for the salon floor. With Command Centre you can easily block off a set period for individual team members. This will automatically update your online bookings and stop clients from booking with them during that time. For team members that are in the salon but are quieter than usual, make sure you are getting the most out of their time. Ask them to freshen up your retail area and promote some of your best sellers on your social media channels. Or ask them to put together their top summer hair styles or beauty trends which you can send out to your clients via newsletter.

No matter what this summer looks like in terms of restrictions, let’s make it a great one for salons across the UK. If you’d like further information on how to make the most of your iSalon software, DM us on Instagram.
